Legal
Terms of Use
These terms govern your use of the Kapitel: German Stories app and this website. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
The service
Kapitel provides short German-language stories and related reading tools (translations on tap, saved words, progress). It is a learning aid, not an accredited course, exam, or substitute for a teacher.
Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 13 years old. You are responsible for your login and for activity on your account. Provide accurate information and keep your password secret. We may suspend or delete accounts that violate these terms or that we reasonably believe are abusive or unlawful.
Your content
You keep rights to notes and feedback you write. You grant us a limited licence to store and display that content so the app can function (for example, showing a note on a saved word, or reading feedback you sent). Do not submit content that is illegal, harmful, or infringes someone else’s rights.
Our content
Stories, translations, design, trademarks, and the app itself are owned by Kapitel or our licensors. You may use them only inside the app for personal, non-commercial reading. You may not copy, scrape, or redistribute story text or the app without permission.
Acceptable use
Do not:
- Probe, disrupt, or overload the service
- Bypass security or access another person’s account
- Use automated tools to extract stories or user data
- Misuse sign-in, including creating accounts to abuse the service
Optional support
Kapitel does not require payment to read. If you choose to support the project through Buy Me a Coffee or a similar link, that transaction is between you and that provider. It is not an in-app purchase and does not unlock extra stories unless we say so in the app.
Privacy
Our Privacy Policy describes how we handle personal data.
Disclaimer
The service is provided “as is”. Stories and translations may contain mistakes. We do not warrant uninterrupted access, specific learning outcomes, or that the app will always be available in your country.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Kapitel is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for loss of data or progress, arising from your use of the app. Some places do not allow these limits; in those places, our liability is limited to the maximum permitted.
Changes and termination
We may change the app or these terms. Continued use after a change means you accept the new terms. You may stop using Kapitel and delete your account at any time. We may stop offering the service with reasonable notice where practical.
